Commentary
Kami: When we recorded the live tracks for Gunblade Blues volume II this was one of the newest songs Gonzo had written instrumentally and it was so new I hadn’t come around to it. I remember the engineers that helped make the album saying when the band was recording the basic tracks ‘wow this sounds really cool it sounds like Motorhead’ which was a huge honor to hear. Motorhead and Lemmy Kilmister were always part of the band’s history as an important influence. Me and Alexx happened to meet Lemmy the first time we came out to Los Angeles around 2009, we met him, told him about our dreams of havign a kickass band , took pictures and never saw him again. His death was a big deal for us so I figured this was a good opportunity to put our little grain of sand amongst the many tributes that were appearing all over the place for him and his legacy with Motorhead. The song references many motorhead songs and I tried my best to write it form the perspective of someone looking back on his life, trying to capture that flaming, iconic and unique rock n roll spirit that Lemmy was.
